My Cousin Daniel who studies in Australia is going to come back to Taiwan this summer vacation. To his best desire, he always wants to travel to Jiufen old street, which nestled in the small, quaint hill town of Jiufen (Also known as Chiufen) in Ruifang, New Taipei city and is also famous for its old street. Thus, Jiufen is the best choice for Taiwan family trip. This Taiwanese village near Keelung is popular among Japanese anime fans as the town that inspired Hayao Miyazaki’s Academy Award-winning flick “Spirited Away”. Therefore, we decided to have a Taipei day tour to Jiufen.

Jiufen’s weather, as known by most of the visitors from different countries. Jiufen often rains cats and dogs. Unexpectedly, the weather on that day was bad though. Thus, we went to the Amei tea house, which is well-known for its amazing handmade tea and its sunset. Taiwanese love tea more than foreigners do, and they know how to make it so well, too. After having a wonderful afternoon tea. We were lucky to catch a sunset after the downpour! Next, Daniel and I went to Jiufen old street, which food itself drives hoards of tourists from all around Taiwan and Asia. Heck, just the yummy taro balls in a sweet red bean soup make for the number one hots sellers at Jiufen old street and are the sole purpose of our day tour to Jiufen.

For us, the lanterns, decorations, cute souvenirs, tea houses, and the cute village vibe was sufficient to steal our heart. However, it does grow on us, so we determined to book a place to reside nearby the adorable old street vibe for two days in Jiufen. By only overnighting at Jiufen, we can truly soak up the vibe, and just walking up and down the multitude of stairs at the old street turns out to be so much fun and satisfaction. It was a wonderful memory for us in Jiufen.
