Maokong Gondola Private Tour
Looking for a Maokong Gondola tour that goes beyond the usual tea house visit? This private Taipei day tour combines the peaceful tea mountains of Maokong with one of New Taipei City’s most unique hidden local experiences: Shiding handmade noodle DIY. Instead of following a standard tourist route, this journey brings you into the quieter side of Taipei’s mountain culture, where traditional food craft, old street scenery, tea history, seasonal flowers, and skyline views come together in one well-paced private itinerary.
Your day begins with hotel pickup in Taipei City and a comfortable private transfer to Shiding, a mountain district known for its riverside village atmosphere, old stone houses, tofu desserts, and handmade food traditions. The highlight is the Shiding Handmade Noodle DIY Experience, where guests learn how traditional Taiwanese handmade noodles are made. With guided instruction, you will join simple hands-on activities such as noodle stretching, noodle swinging, photo time during the noodle-drying process, and packaging your own handmade noodles to bring home. For families with children, this experience is especially memorable because it is interactive, easy to understand, and different from a normal sightseeing stop.

After the DIY activity, continue to Shiding Old Street for a relaxing walk through one of northern Taiwan’s quieter old villages. Compared with larger and busier tourist streets, Shiding feels more local and intimate. Guests can see traditional stone houses, stilt-house scenery, the old riverside village atmosphere, tofu dessert shops, and small local food stalls. This part of the tour gives visitors a glimpse of Taiwan’s mountain village life without feeling too commercial.
Guests will have free time for lunch in the Shiding area at their own expense. Your guide can recommend local restaurants and snacks based on your preferences. This flexible arrangement allows you to choose the food you enjoy most while exploring the local area.
In the afternoon, travel directly by private vehicle from Shiding to the Taipei Tea Promotion Center in Maokong. Your private vehicle brings you directly to the tea center, where you can learn about Tieguanyin tea, Baozhong tea, tea production, and the tea-growing history of the Muzha and Maokong area.
Next, enjoy a light walk along Zhangshu Trail, also known as Camphor Tree Trail. This gentle trail is one of Maokong’s most pleasant seasonal photo spots. Depending on the season and yearly planting schedule, visitors may see lupine flowers, cosmos, sunflowers, or other seasonal flower scenery. Even outside flower seasons, the trail offers a slower, greener side of Taipei, with tea mountain views and peaceful countryside atmosphere.
The final highlight is Maokong itself. Relax at a mountain-view tea house or café, enjoy Taiwanese tea, and take in the quiet scenery above Taipei. Your guide can introduce the basics of local tea culture, including Tieguanyin and Baozhong tea, while you enjoy a slower afternoon away from the city. Instead of rushing back by road, end the day with Maokong Gondola ride down to Taipei Zoo Station. The downhill ride gives you beautiful views of the mountains and Taipei skyline, making it a memorable ending to this private Maokong Gondola tour.

To make the experience even more flexible, guests may choose their preferred drop-off location at the end of the tour. Return to your Taipei hotel, continue exploring around Taipei 101 and Xinyi District, or head directly to Raohe Street Night Market for an evening of local street food.
