Let’s be honest—traveling with kids is like juggling flaming pineapples. One minute they’re squealing with joy at a playground; the next, they’re melting down because the ice cream fell one inch off the cone.
But fear not, fellow parents and brave aunties! Taiwan is secretly one of the most family friendly attractions destinations in Asia, especially around Taipei, New Taipei, and Yilan. It’s clean, safe, full of creative play spaces, and (bonus!) locals absolutely love kids.
So buckle those stroller straps and loosen your sense of control—here are my favorite family friendly attractions in northern Taiwan that will make both kids and grown-ups smile wider than a bubble tea straw.

TAIPEI CITY
1. Taipei Children’s Amusement Park (臺北市兒童新樂園) – A Playground with Zero Guilt
Located in the Shilin District, the park offers a wide range of fun and entertaining activities for kids of all ages. The park features various rides and attractions, including carousel rides, bumper cars, a Ferris wheel, roller coasters, and many more. Children can enjoy thrilling rides that are suitable for their age and height, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience. In addition to the rides, the park also has playgrounds, interactive games, and water play areas.
The ticket prices? A couple of bucks. The fun? Priceless. There are enough gentle rides for preschoolers and just enough thrills to make older kids brag on Instagram. Easily one of the top family friendly attractions in Taipei.
2. Neihu Strawberry Farm (內湖草莓園) – Pick, Eat, Repeat
If you visit Taipei between December and March, stop by Neihu’s strawberry farms. Nothing says “parenting win” like handing your kid a basket and watching them work for their sugar intake.
“Strawberry harvesting” is a fun and interactive activity where you can visit a strawberry farm, and personally pick ripe strawberries from the fields. It is a hands-on experience that allows people of all ages to connect with nature, enjoy the fresh air, and taste the sweetness of freshly picked strawberries. Additionally, it’s a delightful and rewarding activity that offers a unique opportunity to engage with agriculture, learn about the strawberry cultivation process, and savor the delicious flavors of seasonal fruits.
At many farms you can make strawberry jam or ice cream afterward—because clearly, this fruit needs more sugar. Parents, bring napkins; kids, bring enthusiasm. This tasty hands-on experience makes Neihu one of those family friendly attractions where everyone leaves sticky but happy. Read more about Taiwan mango.
3. Taipei Zoo (臺北市立動物園) – Where Pandas Outshine Pokémon
Taipei Zoo is home to a wide variety of animals, including mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians. You can observe and learn about fascinating creatures from all over the world, such as giant pandas, elephants, lions, giraffes, koalas, penguins, and many more.
In addition to animal exhibits, Taipei Zoo offers other attractions and facilities. The Children’s Zoo is a favorite among young visitors, where they can interact with farm animals and learn about their care. The zoo also has a large botanical garden with a diverse collection of plants and a scenic lake.
Take the mini-train to the upper mountain area, or visit the indoor insectarium where butterflies might land right on your camera. Bonus tip: hop on the Maokong Gondola afterward for scenic tea-hill views. This combo easily ranks among the best family friendly attractions in the city.
4. Taipei Astronomical Museum (臺北市立天文科學教育館) – Space Without the Jet Lag
It’s easily one of the most educational family friendly attractions in Taipei—especially for rainy days. If you are curious about the universe and want to know how to explore aliens, the solar system, and how the Earth formed in outer space. Visit the Taipei Astronomical Museum and explore the mysteries of the universe.
The Museum offers various interactive facilities that make the experience truly exciting. You can uncover alien conspiracies during your space exploration. Additionally, hop on the Space Train, visit the Space Station, and operate a remote-controlled space rover. These interactive features add a whole new level of fun to your visit!
NEW TAIPEI
5. New Taipei Metropolitan Park’s 熊猴森樂園 – A Slide Wonderland
Just across the Tamsui River, New Taipei Metropolitan Park hides a jaw-dropping playground called “Bear & Monkey Forest.” Think 31 colorful slides, 100 play structures, and a view of the skyline that even adults can’t resist photographing.

6. Tamsui Adventure Island (淡水阿熊勇闖歡樂島) – Indoors, Because Weather Happens

The main highlight of Yehliu Ocean World is its aquarium, which houses a diverse range of marine life. 9. Lanyang Museum (蘭陽博物館) – Where Rocks Tell Stories
Lanyang Museum showcases the diversity of Yilan’s ecology and culture. Furthermore, the design of main building was based on the common sight of a steep and sloping single-sided mountain in the Beiguan Coast area. The roof and the ground form a 20-degree angle, while the tip of the wall and the ground form a 70-degree angle, resembling a thriving growth emerging from the land.
In the Children’s Exploration Zone, kids can enhance their understanding of marine ecology, and cultivate a sense of environmental conservation. It is suitable for children aged 6 to 12.
In addition to the exhibition, the museum also has the Wushi Reef Ruins Park, providing visitors with an outdoor space, and see the museum’s collection of artifacts. 1. Safety first: Locals are polite, crime is rare, and everyone seems to carry extra tissues for emergencies (a true parenting superpower).
2. Clean bathrooms: Yes, you’ll actually want to use public restrooms here.
3. Transportation magic: MRT elevators, stroller access, and signs that actually make sense!

+Mix indoor & outdoor fun. Weather changes fast, so have a Plan B.
