All about the trip
Founded during the Qing Dynasty, this small town was a relatively isolated village until the discovery of gold during the Japanese occupation in 1893, quickly developing the town due to a gold rush. Nowadays, many remaining buildings are reflecting the Japanese influence on both architecture and culture. Gold mining activities are declined after World War II. The town today exists mainly as a tourist attraction in New Taipei City and celebrating Taiwanese history and culture.

What to Expect
  • Yin-Yang Sea & Golden Waterfall - Golden Waterfall is near the Yin-Yang Sea in the Jinguashi Gold Ecological Park region. The red background of Golden Waterfall comes from the sulfurous soil and it contains a high level of toxic. Along the way to Golden Waterfall, you may find the abandoned factories of the gold mining which you could experience through Taipei private tour.
  • Shifen Waterfall - Shifen Waterfall is a 40-meter high waterfall. If you visit Shifen Waterfall in summer, you can feel the cool water and refreshing air in the mountains. Explore the trail near Shifen Waterfall is also good for Taiwan family trip. Walking into the forests and being bathed in the relaxation and tranquility are the best of Taiwan tour.
  • Jiufen Old Street - Jiufen is a unique immigrant isolated village in the mountains in the Qing dynasty. When Taiwan was under Japanese rule, there was a gold rush in Jiufen. This place is also famous for taro ball, fish ball, and rice cake. If tourists are tired after walking so long, you can rest in the tea house to taste the delicacies of Jiufen.   • Shifen Old Street - Releasing sky lantern into the sky is one of the most famous thing to do in Taiwan. The sky lantern is also called Kongming lantern, which is used for praying for safety, love and career now. Tourists can write your wishes on the lantern, however, it was used for informing others that this village is safe before. We will release the eco-friendly sky lantern on the train track, which is very fascinating and harmless to the environment. After releasing a sky lantern, you can also buy the nostalgic marble soft drink in Shifen Old Street.
  • Jingtong Train Station - The station itself is a Japanese style architecture, and a rare wooden station in Taiwan. Its vintage appearance is filled with a sense of history fit for pictures. There is also the one and only “Sky Lantern Police Station” nearby, the wish making bamboo tube, and the “Railway Story House” not to be missed by railway fanatics.
