What to Expect
  • Yangmingshan was called Chaoshan (Grass Mountain) during the Japanese occupation of Taiwan, because it was covered with grass and seldom visited. After World War II, the government renamed the mountain Yangmingshan and built a park here. Yangmingshan National Park is the only park in Taiwan that has volcanic geography and hot springs. The magnificent mountainous scenery and comfortable weather have made Yangmingshan National Park a perfect summer resort. The natural beauty of the part has won its reputation as urban forest and the Taipei garden.
  • Taiwan’s hot springs are all over the places in Taiwan, including sulfur spring in Yangminshan and Beitou, sodium bicarbonate spring in Wu-lai and Jiaoxi, volcanic mud spring in Southern Taiwan, etc. Sulfur spring in Yangminshan and Beitou is either yellowish-brown or turbid, which will soothe your muscles well. Since it’s good for skin, it is also called beauty hot spring. Immersing yourself in the Yangmingshan hot spring, you will find the inner peace and relaxation with the going upward smoke.
  • Walking down the Qingtiangang Grassland Trail, you will see the misty landscape from Yangmingshan. The panoramic view of mountain and grassland may make visitors miss when you have wanderlust at work. Because of the ranch of cattle was here under Japanese rule, you may find the cows here now.
  • Zhuzihu (Bamboo Lake) is well known for its field of white calla lily flowers, which are at full bloom from March to May. At that time, the field of pure white calla flowers will draw your eyes away from the distant mountain views while you walk in the Zhuzihu Scenic Spot. Occasionally, you can find calla lily flower-related events being held at Zhuzihu Scenic Spot, such as Calla Lily Festival.
  • Following the end of the Calla Lily season in late-May, hydrangeas are welcomed in the Zhuzihu area. Hydrangea blossom are regarded as a symbol of hope and an auspicious flower for families. They are also symbolically connected with gratitude and the desire to understand others. Hydrangeas usually bloom from the plum rain season (from mid-May to mid-June in Taiwan) to early summer. At that time, the clefts in the mountainside are blanketed with pale blues and purples. • Warm up yourself with Pineapple & Bitter Gourd Chicken Soup on the chilly mountain. The farms also provide a collection of jungle vegetables like Stir-fried bitter gourd with salted eggs, stir-fried jungle fern and fried Chayote. You can also go fishing in some farms which is the fun thing to do in Taipei during Taiwan family trip with kids. Just bring your growling stomach, we will make sure you’d be satisfied by those wild vegetable dishes!
