Does London rain the most in the world?
People tend to recognize London as a city of rain … why does it rain so much in London? Is it really raining that much? According to the charts (we will mention below), London is not the wettest capital in the world, not even in the Europe. London’s average rainy day is approximately 106 days each year, and receives a total of 22.976 inches (583.6 millimeters) of precipitation annually.

Taipei is actually raining more than London.
Take Taiwan as an example, the average rainy days of the capital city Taipei is 165 days, more than London’s 106 days. And the average amount of rainfall is about 2,500 mm per year, relying on the form of typhoons. Normally there are at least three or four typhoons hit (making a landfall is a must!) Taiwan every year. Though typhoon is always causing some damages, floods and landslides, Taiwanese still need it for its water supply. (See the ultimate guide of Taiwan’s weather here.)

The myth of a rainy London.
The climate of London features a temperate oceanic climate (Cfb), it means the wind from the sea is constantly blowing all over the area. However, according to many studies in U.S., London can’t even make to the top 15 rainiest cities’ in America. Hollywood may be the one to blame by making rain a signature of London. According to many studies in U.S., London can’t even make to the top 15 rainiest cities’ in America.
You can see the graphics below showing both the comparison of the wetness of London and the rest of Europe and the location of wettest capitals in Europe – Montenegro (capital of Podgorica).
