My friends and I are from New Zealand; we have different jobs but we have a common point: Both of us love delicious food! We have noticed Taiwan for a long time ago. We heard about Taiwan is a paradise of foodies like us! After Michelin Guide publishing Taipei Guide in 2018, we knew it’s the time to have a Taiwan tour! So, we took our first Taipei tour in Taiwan. This was the first time we traveled to Asia. We were super excited but also afraid of finding wrong restaurant because of the complicated Chinese characters. We joined a Taipei private tour that we can ask Taiwan tour guide to search for a nice restaurant!

During Taipei day tour, we also visited many popular sightseeing spots. National Palace Museum, Taipei 101, Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall and Longshan Temple for exploring Taiwan temple culture. Taipei is a really prosperous and vibrant city. Our final stop was the Shilin Night Market. The spot which we were most looking forward!

“This night market opened from 4 pm-1 am, and always crowded,” Our guide told us that information. That’s amazing, tourists from all over the world ate and played in the big night market. To be honest, I am so envious! In New Zealand, the markets and stores always closed early.

We followed Michelin Bib Gourmand to find the herbal ribs. These herbal ribs were cooked from 15 different Chinese herbals! The soup tasted sweet and rich! We loved herbal ribs so much, very special very Taiwan! This soup was very suitable for drinking in winter, let our body warmer.

We also tasted sweet potato ball, fried chicken fillet, pepper bun, scallion pancake, bubble tea, and even the stinky tofu until we can’t eat anymore. After we left Shilin Night Market we knew why Taipei had been reported as a “Gluttony City” by CNN! We were very sure that Taipei was absolutely the foodie paradise!
