We are a doctor family from the United Kingdom. Owing to the occupation, we seldom find extra time to travel the world. By my father’s proposal, we decided to go to Taiwan and participated in the Taipei private tour to Yehliu, which is a cape in the town of Wanli, New Taipei, Taiwan. We got pretty much traffic options to go there including taking the north coast shuttle bus. However, the bright side of attending the private tour is that we can travel more easily and conveniently compared to the tourist who travels like a backpacker.

You Know what? Yehliu was rated as one of the attractions you can’t miss in Asia.

What’s more, the cape in Yehliu, known by geologists as the Yehliu Promontory, forms part of the Daliao Miocene Formation, which is what makes Yehliu a geopark. The distance from the entrance of the Yehliu Geopark to the end of the cape is about 1.7 km; the widest area in between is shorter than 300 m. Yehliu Geopark is famous for its sea-erosion landscape. The rocky landscape of the Geopark has made it one of the most famous wonders in the world. The influences caused by strong relentless waves, rock weathering, earth movement, and crustal movement all contribute to the formation of such a rare and stunning geological landscape.

Yehliu Geopark can be divided into two areas. The first area contains mushroom rock and ginger rock. You may also see the appearance of cleavage, potholes and melting erosion panels. On top of that, the famous candle shaped rock and the ice cream rock are presented in this area too. The second area is a bit similar to the first area, which named as mushroom rocks and ginger rocks. The highlights of our trip were the Queen’s Head, Dragon’s Head Rock. Since the area is near the coast, rocks that develop into four different kinds of formations can be seen in this area. For instance, elephant rock, fairy’s shoe, earth rock, and peanut rock. The rocks are formed as a result of corrosion by seawater. By enjoying the natural scenery in Yehliu, we ended up the wonderful Yehliu tour with the awe of the power of nature.
