We are a big family lives in Australia. However, my uncle and aunt live in Jiufen, the north of Taiwan. By the opportunity to visit them, we decided to take a look at the beauty of Jiufen by attending the Taipei day tour to Jiufen.

By the time we got to Jiufen old street, it was already packed with tour groups and day-trippers like us. It made for a lively atmosphere, but it was not as easy to go into all the places that looked interesting. We ended up doing some of our souvenir shopping here though. The narrow road wound between tightly packed shops on both sides. Lots of cultural and traditional trinkets on display in the shops. There are certain snacks you should try while in wandering Jiufen old street including taro balls, fish ball soup, sun cakes, pineapple cakes, and roasted mushrooms, etc.

As for us, you can bet the first thing I ate after that hot and sweaty hike was ice-cream. It was quite by chance that I found this shop. I had seen a brief mention to a two-story shop that sold shaved ice with glutinous rice balls online, but there were no directions so I left it up to fate. Eventually, I found it inadvertently. The serving of one bowl is really big and is meant to be shared between two people. The tang yuan is good. Among all, I liked the taro flavored the most. I truly had such a perfect time and the first but best experience in Jiufen.
