Taiwan ranked 1st in “Macroeconomic stability” in the 2018 edition of the Global Competitiveness Report released by Geneva-based World Economic Forum (WEF). Taiwan is the 12th most competitive nation in the world out of 141 countries ranked, 4th among Asia-Pacific economies. Behind Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan, but ahead of South Korea (13th), Australia (16th), New Zealand (19th), Malaysia (27th) and China (28th). The economy of Taiwan is a developed capitalist economy that ranks as the seventh largest in Asia and 22nd-largest in the world by purchasing power parity (PPP). Taiwan’s stable economic environment, alongside high insurance coverage rate and high proportion of private financing for domestic companies.
